Το γεγονός ότι ακόμη και η Βόρεια Κορέα υπέγραψε τη συμφωνία του Παρισιού για την κλιματική αλλαγή, από την οποία αποσύρθηκαν οι ΗΠΑ, οδήγησε σε αρκετές ενδιαφέρουσες συγκρίσεις για την αμφισβήτηση από τις ΗΠΑ κάθε έννοιας διεθνούς δικαίου.
Μεταξύ άλλων συμφωνιών που έχει υπογράψει η Βόρεια Κορέα αλλά όχι οι ΗΠΑ συναντάμε τη Σύμβαση για την εξάλειψη όλων των μορφών διακρίσεως κατά των γυναικών, το Πρωτόκολλο του Κιότο, το Διεθνές Σύμφωνο για τα οικονομικά, κοινωνικά και μορφωτικά δικαιώματα κ.α.
Αρκεί να ρίξει κανείς μια ματιά στη λίστα της Wikipedia με τις διεθνείς συμφωνίες που δεν έχουν υπογράψει (ή έχουν υπογράψει και δεν έχουν επικυρώσει) οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες για να καταλάβει τι συμβαίνει με τη «χώρα της ελευθερίας» εδώ και σχεδόν έναν αιώνα.
